Design-build in Pasadena and Altadena.

Historic homes, additions, and rebuilds across Pasadena and Altadena — with the permitting differences between the two handled as part of the work.

The area

Building in Pasadena and Altadena.

Pasadena and Altadena sit next to each other but permit differently: Pasadena runs its own building department, while Altadena is unincorporated and goes through Los Angeles County. Knowing which path a property takes — and designing for it from the start — avoids a category of delay that catches people out regularly.

The housing stock includes a great deal of Craftsman and period architecture, where additions and remodels have to be detailed carefully to sit correctly against the original building.

Is permitting different in Pasadena and Altadena?

Yes. Pasadena operates its own building department, while Altadena is unincorporated and permits through Los Angeles County. We handle both.

Do you work on historic and Craftsman homes?

Yes. Additions and remodels are detailed to sit correctly against the original architecture, with millwork produced in our own shop.

Do you take on fire rebuilds in Altadena?

Yes. We are actively rebuilding homes lost in the Eaton Fire, including a like-for-like rebuild on Rubio Vista Road in Altadena. Altadena is unincorporated, so rebuilds permit through Los Angeles County rather than the City of Pasadena, and we handle that submittal and plan check in-house. We work from your insurer's scope of loss, document the work as it progresses, and give you and your adjuster a clear record at every stage. We are builders rather than public adjusters, so we do not negotiate your claim — but we make sure the construction side is documented properly so nothing stalls it.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes — fully licensed, bonded, and insured in California. Permits and inspections are handled as part of the build.
